Real Time Public Water Fountain Contamination Shut Off System With Turbidity Monitoring
This is a low-cost embedded system designed for real-time water clarity and turbidity monitoring. By utilizing an Arduino UNO and an analog turbidity sensor, the system instantly evaluates the transparency of a water sample and categorizes its quality.
Traditional laboratory-based water testing methods, while highly accurate, are often time-consuming, expensive, and require specialized equipment. There is a strong need for a simple, real-time, on-site monitoring approach that can provide immediate, preliminary feedback on water clarity without waiting for lab results.
Note: These are project-specific threshold values derived during the testing phase. They require proper calibration for different sensor hardware setups or varying ambient light conditions.
See hardware/wiring.md for detailed pin connections between the sensor and the Arduino.
The system runs a continuous loop on the Arduino. It reads the analog pin A0 and uses simple conditional statements to categorize the integer output.
